The Charity Element: Pageantry that Makes A Difference
Our fun, family-friendly contest combines the Pageant with dedicated Fund-Raising!
Final Consideration: Your Charity Work & Donations
Throughout our competition, there’s no question that the charity element is important. All through your Facebook page, interview, self-introduction and in the finalists’ questions, there will be two key questions:
- How did you feel about helping others?
- How have you raised your donations?
FAQ
How are charity points awarded?
Helping others is very important to FOEW, we award the 2 top charity finalists from each age group an automatic place in the Grand Final line up. Every finalist who has contributed to the FOEW Charity pot will receive pro-rata points linked to how many finalists are in your age group as well. Charity scores are added to the accumulative scores from each of the other rounds. Your scores for your charity donations and tireless support can improve your own ranking within the competition.
FOEW Selection Heats
There is no minimum or set donations in the heats. They often range from £50 to £500. However, any donation that exceeds this amount will improve your overall position in the competition.
Grand Final Charity element
The minimum Charity amount would be £250.00 but the sky is the limit. Some finalists over the years have taken our breath away with their charity efforts.
For example, if there are 15 girls in your age category raising 2000, 1000, 750, 750, 500, 250, 250, 250, the scores would be allocated 15, 14, 13, 13, 11, 11, 11, and so forth down to the last person who contributed. If a finalist donated under the minimum amount or gave no charity, then no charity points are awarded to those contestants. This also applies to the publicity.
Charity points can become very important in the final line up especially if there is a draw between finalists who have the same scores - the adjudicator would then look at the charity totals donated to determine who would win.
Please also note this is not the end of the journey of the charity scoring and awards. For instance, there is the all-important premier charity titles to be won, these titles are determined across the whole competition. The overall Charity Queen and two princesses. It is important to note that that charity title can go to any age group, the scoring is the same principle as before and given out pro-rata. This isn’t just age groups - this includes all finalist’s efforts and donations. Scores are awarded purely on donation and publicity. Your publicity books can be submitted on a memory stick or disc 1 week prior to your final, this may help with your costs, because we do not want you incurring high costs to post/ ship or bring with you on your flights, as the books are heavy & can be costly, therefore please consider coping you publicity book onto a memory stick & send over in a padded envelope to FOEW
Please also remember it is only money raised and handed in at the Grand Final that counts towards your Grand Final scores. Your original heat donations are not included, because you will have already benefited from those points at your heat and they helped you win your place in the final. International contestants are scored separately to UK finalists with pro-rata points attributed in the same way but for international only.
How do I submit the charity money?
All charity money has to be paid into FOEW CHARITY account by a designated date before the competition starts. Any monies paid must be cleared funds on the morning of the registration (1st day of the competition). It is important to know we do not accept cheques for any charity or purchases. We prefer you to pay into the main Charity account as over the years, we have lost several hundreds of pounds because money has not been paid out to our benefactors due to contestants paying into the wrong account or internet collections not being paid out. They may have also paid the wrong people or taken commission and made undisclosed charges and trying to retrieve this by the contestants or by FOEW on their behalf with a 3rd party provider is very difficult and, in some cases, impossible and very time consuming and costly.
Please read the T&Cs below concerning the charity account regarding any deductions that are made for running of the competition and charity account, including the 30% contribution towards the cost of the Grand Final. This includes deductions for the full costs of the Charity regalia, accessories, and annual expenses incurred during their reign i.e. travel, accommodation, and meals if/and when applicable, prizes and, of course the return trip to Disney for the winners.
Where do I send my donations?
Donations should be paid to:
Barclays FOEW International .
Cty ACCT No: 03031225
Sort Code: 20-02-62
or
PayPal: paypal.me/FOEWINT
Always use CTY as part of the payment ref and your name, for example: "Jane/CTY"
Any questions, please email info@foew.international
What happens to collected donations if I leave the contest?
Should you leave FOEW for any reason whatsoever all monies you have collected under our name & for our benefactors must still be paid immediately into the FOEW designated charity account, failure to do this is breaking your agreement with us which you will have already signed before entering your heat. Breaking these rules may lead to reporting the issue to the Charities Commission. All charity monies collected under the banner of FOEW while promoting your title must be paid into FOEW designated charity accunt. Always make sure you put your name as the payment reference on any payment to FOEW and then e-mail us details of payment(s) so there is a good paper trail.
